EMMA THORLBY
My love affair with yoga began in around 2015, after initially just dipping my toe in with a few classes around Manchester as a method of keeping fit. I was hesitant at first as I have never been particularly strong or flexible, but as soon as I witnessed the difference I felt in my mental wellbeing and to my overall stress levels, those concerns melted away. That is when the practice really clicked for me. I was no longer taking the weight of work and the world home with me. Came for the stretches, stayed for the peace I felt inside.
After a few years of regular practice with some of my favourite teachers, I decided it was time to challenge myself. I felt the urge to share this practice I had grown to love so much. I credit the practice of yoga helping me re-discover some of the confidence I had lost along the way and helping me get out of my own way.
I applied to a yoga school in Goa, India and booked a flight. Still I wasn’t 100% sure if I would go – I was so far out of my comfort zone. But throwing my fears and doubts out of the window, in November 2019 I travelled to India and had the most incredible, transformative month of my life and left as a qualified yoga teacher!.
Since then I have been teaching in and around Manchester and online. Offering public classes, workplace wellbeing sessions, and one-to-one sessions with private clients. I’ve run collaborations with local businesses and in September 2021 run my first ever weekend-long yoga retreat in the Peak District.
I now offer vinyasa, yin, slow flow and meditation classes that are open to all. My aim is to put you at ease and give you the space to let go. My approach is friendly and laid back. We will have a little fun but hopefully you will also leave feeling relaxed and renewed and a little more in touch with yourself.
I welcome everyone in my classes with open arms, whether you’re just starting out on your yoga journey or whether you’ve practiced for years, hopefully there is something for everyone!
